Alessia Mariotti

Alessia Mariotti, Full Professor of Political-Economic Geography, served from 2014 to 2018 as Director of the Centro di Studi Avanzati sul Turismo/Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism, Rimini Campus. She has conducted research both in Italy and abroad on the topics of cultural tourism, local development, community management of cultural resources, sustainable development, and the planning and management of tourism at UNESCO World Heritage sites. She collaborates with universities, research centres, international organisations (UNESCO, World Bank, Council of Europe) and local authorities in the development of management plans for the enhancement of cultural and tourism resources and cultural itineraries. She teaches tourism geography in the Bachelor's degree programme in Economics of Tourism and Cities, in the Master's degree programme in Tourism Economics and Management, and in master's programmes and university courses at other universities and training centres. Since 2024, she has been a member of the Board of the IGU Tourism, Leisure and Global Change Commission.
