Alfonso Morvillo

Alfonso Morvillo has been, since November 2021, Director General of the Directorate General for Planning and Management of Instrumental and Financial Resources of the Basilicata Region. From 2003 to 2020 he was Director of the Research Institute on Innovation and Services for Development (IRISS) of the National Research Council (CNR), formerly known as the Institute for Research on Tertiary Activities. During his long tenure, he promoted the consolidation and expansion of the Institute's activities, also through an intense fundraising activity at European, national and regional level, contributing to the extension of its scientific mission and the strengthening of its multidisciplinary character. His main scientific interests concern the management of tourism services and cultural heritage, entrepreneurship and innovation, logistics and supply chain management, and local development. He is the author of an extensive scientific output, including volumes, essays and articles published in national and international journals. He has been Director of the CNR-IRISS Quaderni Series and a member of the Advisory Board of international scientific journals; he is currently co-editor of the Italian Tourism Report. During his scientific career, he has been Scientific Coordinator of approximately twenty competitive research projects and approximately thirty consultancy assignments entrusted to CNR-IRISS by public and private bodies, as well as coordinator or co-coordinator of projects funded by the European Commission. He has also been co-founder and Vice President of the international association The Tourism Intelligence Forum (t-Forum) and a member of the Boards of Directors of several consortia involving CNR-IRISS.
