Lorenzo Franchini

Lorenzo Franchini (Varese, 1963) lives and works in a small village on the outskirts of Valceresio. A craftsman and advertising decorator by trade, he travels whenever he can, loves riding his Vespa and writes as a passion. For ten years he was a contributor to the magazine Mototurismo, writing reports and travel stories and carrying out road tests of Vespas and scooters. His most significant Vespa experience was the crossing of Argentina from north to south, from Buenos Aires through the Pampa and Patagonia all the way to the far south of Tierra del Fuego, which he recounted in the book 'Dove il Mondo Finisce' (2019 - Alpine Studio Editore), with which he won the Special Critics' Prize at the literary competition Storie in Viaggio. 'Le Infinite Strade della Vespa – piccole ruote per andare lontano' (2023 - Ediciclo Editore) is a short essay – partly autobiographical – dedicated to the iconic scooter, written for the Piccola Filosofia di Viaggio series. From March 2026 he is available in bookshops with 'Hemingway alla fermata del bus' (Prospero Ed. Geopoetica series), an entertaining travel report written in narrative form with which, with sarcasm and irony, he attempts to answer the question: how does a curious – and moderately seasoned – tourist see the United States when visiting for the very first time?
