Luigi Cau

Luigi Cau is the founder and, since 2021, President of RES, the first regional network that unites wineries, agricultural businesses, and hospitality operators to promote wine tourism in Sardinia. An expert in territorial marketing and regional development, Luigi has designed and coordinated flagship initiatives such as "Territori del Vino e del Gusto" (Wine and Taste Territories) and "Sardinia Wine Experience". Developed in collaboration with the Regional Department of Tourism, these pioneering pilot models successfully promote year-round, sustainable wine tourism across the island. Throughout his career, Luigi has managed key integrated regional development plans, including the "Le Colline del Mandrolisai" project, and coordinated major territorial marketing events like Vinocultura. He also regularly collaborates with official "Wine Roads" (Strade del Vino), leading training and promotional initiatives. On the international stage, Luigi served as Coordinator and Steering Committee Member for the European projects INTERREG IIIB MEDOCC Rural-Med and Rural-Med 2. In this role, he managed transnational initiatives focused on wine supply chains, rural and food tourism, and business networking across a partnership involving Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Morocco, and Algeria. With decades of experience in local community engagement, Luigi is deeply committed to strengthening the vital connection between wine, the environment, culture, and local communities.
