Biography

Don Marco Fagotti (Florence, 6 March 1974) is a priest of the Archdiocese of Florence, parish priest, canon, and scholar of pastoral care for tourism and sport. After obtaining a diploma as a Hotel Services Technician from the 'Buontalenti' Vocational Institute in Florence (1994), he entered the Florentine Major Seminary that same year, definitively maturing his priestly vocation. He attended the Theological Faculty of Central Italy, obtaining a Baccalaureate in Theology in 2004 with a Magna Cum Laude evaluation. He subsequently deepened his studies at the Pontifical Lateran University, where in 2005 he obtained a diploma in Pastoral Theology and Mass Communication with the highest marks (Summa Cum Laude, 30/30). A significant part of his activity is dedicated to the pastoral care of leisure time, tourism and sport. On 11 February 2017 he was appointed Regional Officer for the Pastoral Care of Leisure Time, Tourism and Sport of the Tuscan Episcopal Conference, establishing a stable collaboration with the relevant bodies of the CEI. Since 2020 he has been Director of the Office for the Pastoral Care of Leisure Time, Tourism and Sport of the Archdiocese of Florence, promoting initiatives in religious tourism, cultural itineraries and spiritual pilgrimages. At the national level, he collaborates with the CEI National Office for the Pastoral Care of Leisure Time, Tourism and Sport, first as a collaborator (2023-2024) and subsequently, from September 2024, as a Study Assistant. In this context he has contributed to the development of projects relating to the Paths of Faith, the Ecclesial Cultural Parks and the promotion of Italy's religious heritage. His pastoral experience combines the guidance of a historic parish community, commitment to ecclesiastical formation and the promotion of religious tourism, pilgrimages and sport as privileged instruments of evangelisation and human growth.
