Matteo Mazzarano

Matteo Mazzarano, born in Genzano di Roma in 1992, is a researcher at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, where he has been teaching Economic Theory and Environmental Economics since 2025. After earning a Master's degree in Resource Economics and Sustainable Development in Rimini, he completed his PhD at the University of Ferrara in 2021 with a dissertation on the circular economy and the determinants of environmental performance at the local level. He is a member of IAERE (the Italian Association of Environmental and Resource Economists) and EAERE (the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists). His research focuses on sustainability from the perspective of local communities, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations, using georeferenced data, financial information, and regional databases. His work has also addressed European climate policies, as well as transition and physical climate risks. He has been affiliated with the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), and the European University Institute (EUI).
