Roberto Manzi

Biography

Roberto Manzi graduated from the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna. He has been practicing law for 35 years, with qualification to appear before the higher courts. He has gained particular expertise in the field of maritime public domain, providing consultancy in this sector to national trade associations and supporting them in the preparation and participation in institutional meetings and technical working groups organised by the Italian Government to address the correct application of the Bolkestein Directive to maritime public domain concessions. He has always stood alongside the seaside operators of the Romagna coast, having taken over from his father in the historic law firm, a firm that has always been at the side of seaside operators since the 1950s. He assists seaside companies and businesses in resolving the ongoing issues and challenges that these operators face on a daily basis in the course of their activities. In his private life, he is married and the father of four children. In the sporting field, he was a member of the national épée team, winning the bronze medal in épée in the team competition at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and claiming the individual World Cup in épée in 1985. To complete his sporting achievements, he has stood on the podium at three World Team Championships, winning one silver medal and two bronze medals, and at the Universiade, winning one individual silver medal and two medals, one gold and one bronze, in the team competitions. He also served as an official of the Italian Fencing Federation, holding the role of Federal Councillor in the four-year period 2001–2004 and, in the following term 2005–2008, that of Vice-President, putting his experience as an athlete at the service of the growth and organisation of the discipline.
