Biography

I was born in Alghero, in a land where hospitality is not a trade: it is an ancient habit. In Sardinia, when someone arrives, you open the door and put something on the table. No one teaches you. You breathe it in. I, however, wanted to understand how that thing worked — the thing we all did without thinking. And it took me a whole lifetime. At nineteen I already had my first business. I am not telling you this to brag, but because that is where I truly learned: by making mistakes with my own money, by listening to customers, by building and rebuilding. It was then that I sensed something it would take me years to bring into focus: people do not only remember what they buy or what you sell. Above all, they remember **how you made them feel**. After an experience abroad I returned to Sardinia and built a business as a property manager. I managed homes for travellers: keys, check-ins, ironed sheets, a welcome bottle of wine on the table. Years spent on the threshold, literally, watching people walk in. And it is on the threshold that I learned everything. Because from there you see something that numbers do not tell: two guests can sleep in the same bed, pay the same price and look out at the same sea. Yet one comes back, the other disappears forever. For years I was unable to put a name to that difference. I only knew how to produce it. Then 2013 arrived. I enrolled almost out of curiosity in an online marketing course. After a few minutes I had one very clear thought: **I want to work in this world**. I discovered that the difference I was producing instinctively had a grammar: positioning, perception, promise. It was not a gift. It was a subject. And if it was a subject, it could be studied, measured and, above all, taught. Since then I have studied direct response marketing, copywriting, brand positioning and corporate finance. I sought out the best teachers and demanded their rigour from myself. Because passion, on its own, is a sail without a rudder.
